Position Summary

Step Ahead Maintenance Inc. (SAMI) is seeking a Building Operator to join our Calgary team. Reporting to the Director of Facility Management you will be part of a dynamic team and be accountable for work order management for various properties within our extensive residential portfolio.

The successful incumbent is a motivated, energetic individual with a commitment to providing excellent, world-class service to our clients in a friendly and engaging way. This role will include a heavy focus on appliance repair paired with general day-to-day maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

·         Accurate diagnosis of any possible building or suite repairs in order to effectively communicate the course of action;

·         Installation of cabinets, counters and moulding; 

·         Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures; 

·         Experience with hot water heating, zone valve and thermostat replacement; 

·         Accurate diagnosis of appliances in order to effectively communicate the course of action;

·         Experience with hot water heating, zone valve and thermostat replacement;

·         Ability and experience in maintaining boilers, furnaces and hot water tanks;

·         Able to assemble fittings and valves for installation;

·         Skilled in the testing of plumbing systems to diagnose problems;

·         Installation of blinds, light fixtures, caulking and grouting;

·         Ability to repair and install doors and windows;

·         Responsible for turn-over maintenance of rental suites including plumbing, electrical and general maintenance repair;

·         Follow up and review of maintenance requests;

·         Identify, Order and install necessary parts where required;

·         Provide timely and accurate answers to site staff, residents and owners regarding any questions/concerns related to maintenance

·         Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers.
·         Perform all other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

·         High School Graduate;

·         2-4 years of maintenance or related experience.

·         Ability to work independently or in a team; 

·         Candidate must have excellent time management skills, and ability to prioritize work and be highly organized;

·         Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;

·         Possess an exceptional customer service philosophy.
